Calling Our Customer Service Department
As you may have noticed, we have quite a comprehensive website. From our engines blog, which features auto repair tips, used engine buying advice and expert insight from experienced mechanics to our vast library of articles about cars and motors, there’s a lot you can learn right here at GotEngines.com. But what we really want you to do is give us a call. We like to get right down to business, and we find that the best way to find out how to get you what you need is speaking directly with you. Everyone we speak to has different needs, different price ranges, and different foundations of knowledge about cars (including their own) and, of course, different cars. We want to learn two things from you in order to best serve you: first and foremost, your VIN number. This tells us exactly which car or truck you’re driving so we can find the exact engine you need. A VIN number gives us even more information than the make, model and year of your car and helps us find the best parts for you. Secondly, we want to know how we can help you.
Got questions? We’ve got answers.
Got car troubles? We’ve got engines.
No matter what stage you’re at in your decision making process, we are here to help. No question is too broad or too specific, and we’ll do our best to give you thorough, helpful answers without patronizing you or pressuring you towards a sale or decision you’re not ready to make.
After Hours Service
GotEngines.com is U.S.-based and we like to let our staff and customer service representatives work reasonable hours so they can remain patient, motivated and responsive when they answer your phone call. To better serve you, we keep regular business hours on Eastern Time. We begin answering the phone at 9AM on weekdays and keep the lines open until 7PM Monday through Thursday and until 6PM on Friday. Due to high demand and a large volume of calls, we’ve also begun taking calls on Saturday between 10AM and 3PM. Of course, if you call us just before the end of our business hours and you have burning questions or need an engine fast, we’ll happily stay on the line with you while we finish up your order and answer all of your questions.
If you happen to be on the site after hours, the best way to get in touch with us is through our online Engine Quote Form. Just fill out your name, email and some information about your vehicle and we’ll get started on your engine search right away. We’ll call or email you promptly as soon as we have a quote for you. Also, feel free to follow up on your email quote request first thing the next morning when the lines open up again. We can pull up your file and get you a price on a new or used engine right away.
Hard to Find Engines
Having trouble finding a particular engine? Give us a call! We specialize in tracking down hard to find engines and auto parts for all makes and models. We carry a wide range of foreign motors, diesel engines, even hybrid and biodiesel engines. We can also find you turnkey crate engines, performance engines and discontinued engines for early model cars, trucks, vans and motorcycles.
Not only can we find your one or more engines for your tricky car repair, we can get you quotes on other parts you’ll need, such as used transmissions, replacement pistons, rings, cam bearings, rod bearings, oil pumps and anything else you might need to complete your weekend project or professional repair.
GotEngines.com – The Markup Busters
At GotEngines.com, we know full well that we’re not the only company that can find you a used engine to get your car up and running again. But we do think we’re the best and most affordable. That’s because finding high quality, low priced engines is all we do. It’s what we do every day and it’s what we do best.
Typically, you might bring your car into the shop to diagnose a problem. When your mechanic discovers that it’s the engine, you’ve got a few options.
The easiest and most expensive option is for you to buy a brand new car. You might be able to trade in your existing car for a credit from an auto dealer, but the money you get from a “push it in, pull it in, drag it in” trade-in isn’t usually a good deal— especially since the other valuable parts in your car may be in perfectly good working condition.
The next option that your mechanic might recommend is an in-house engine rebuild. If they offer a good price and are a dedicated engine shop, this might be a good option. But in our experience, we’ve found that only a handful of shops that do engine rebuilds really have what it takes to do a quality job. Rebuilding engines requires in-depth knowledge, usually specific to the make and model of the engine, as well as years of experience, specialized training and expensive tools that most general
repair auto shops simply can’t afford.
It’s very rare that your mechanic will be able to do a rebuild for you in-house. In most cases, they’ll source it to another repair shop. And when that happens, you’ll be charged a significant markup, not to mention the hassle of having to go through two parties in order to get status updates and estimates on your repair.
Alternately, your mechanic may offer to locate a used engine to put in your car. Again, there will be a big markup on the price of this part—and you may or may not have any say in where he gets the engine from and even less knowledge regarding the quality of the engine and the reputation of the auto recycler or junkyard that sourced the engine. Many mechanics have relationships with one or two auto yards where they get their parts and the do little comparison shopping on your behalf, which is understandable—they’d rather be in the garage than on the phone all day.
Either way, you’re going to pay a huge sum on a brand new car or throw away money on the markup on a used engine that comes from who knows where.
At GotEngines.com, our mission is to change all of that. Like we said, we are specialists in finding quality new, used and remanufactured engines. We have hundreds of engine suppliers in our networks and we have an excellent system for quality control and accountability. In the time it takes a mechanic to call up two or three of his buddies, we can get you quotes on multiple engines from dozens of suppliers and manufacturers. Once we get you a great engine at an excellent price, we can ship it straight to your mechanic’s garage by freight. It’s a win-win situation—you get a better price on a better engine and the mechanic doesn’t have to waste his time playing phone tag with junkyards. In fact, your mechanic might already use GotEngines.com to find engines for his repairs—many of our customers are professional engine shops and auto repair garages. But of course, you can call us directly and save even more money.
Better Engines, Better Prices
At GotEngines.com, we help customers buy used engines and new engines. We know that it can be somewhat intimidating to buy something as expensive as an engine over the phone. That’s why we go to great lengths to provide you with the peace of mind you need to make a smart, informed decision. Here’s how we help you purchase with confidence:
Engine History Reports
Used engines vary widely in their quality and reliability—that’s a fact of life. We price our used engines according to the information we have on hand, and we always err on the side of caution. We make this process as transparent as possible by passing along as much information on a used engine as we can. Typically, this includes a vehicle history report and mileage. But if we can talk with the mechanic who recently salvaged or serviced the used engine, we’ll find out everything else you want to know about it as well. Its human nature to feel uneasy when a deal sounds too good to be true—we understand that. That’s why we give you all the reports, history and documentation on an engine so you can decide for yourself if it’s a good deal. And remember: don’t be afraid to ask questions. If you don’t understand a specification or technical detail, just ask. We’ll give you thorough explanations that will help put your purchase in perspective.
We also recommend factoring in the cost of installation. Get a quote from your mechanic and make sure that they have the equipment and expertise required to install a used engine. If so, we can ship it straight to the shop so they can inspect it, make sure it’s up to snuff and then drop it in. If the engine doesn’t live up to your expectations for any reason, send it back and we’ll get you a refund.
Certified Used Engines
A certified used engine is a good deal. That’s why we often steer our customers towards them, if they can afford to spend just a little bit extra. Cerdified used engines are used engines that have been inspected . The entire engine is closely inspected.
And that’s the value of getting a certified used engine. You’re getting a motor that runs like a champ, but you’re paying a fraction of the cost.
How is this different from repairing an engine? Certified used engines are in a completely different league. When you bring an engine in for service to your local shop, they’ll fix any immediate problems that are keeping it from running right now. They’ll patch it up and then see you later when the next component on your engine fails. At a certain age, engine repairs do nothing but delay the inevitable, begetting more engine repairs down the road for months or years to come.
Warranties and Guarantees
While not all of our engine dealers offer money back guarantees, we prefer to let customers know about the engines that do come with warranties. Warrantied engines can be used engines or new engines. Some warranties are better than others, and we’ll let you know exactly how long your engine is covered and which components of your engine are covered.
The last thing we want is for you to be in the dark about your warranty. Before you make a purchase, we’ll let you know what your warranty entitles you to, whether it’s a refund or replacement for your engine or reimbursement if your engine requires servicing during the warranty period.
Our warranties can either come from the manufacturer or rebuilder or from the auto shop that supplies the part, if we source the part from a partner in our network. Either way, we’ll make absolutely sure that you get your money back if anything goes amiss. As one of the highest rated online engine sellers, we drive a lot of business to our network auto suppliers and we purchase a lot of new and used engines to stock our inventory database. If our customers are unsatisfied with the engines from a particular source, then we give them an ultimatum: make it right or we drop you from our network. Luckily, it very, very rarely comes down to that. Those warranties and guarantees are offered for a good reason: we believe in the engines that we’re selling, and so do the people who dedicated hours of labor into bringing them up to standards. The engines are built to last—the warranty is there for your peace of mind.
