Engine News and Tips: Used Engine oil.

December 31st, 2009

Here is a subject not well known about, long before it became widespread practice to recycle paper, plastics and other waste stream commodities, oil out of used car engines was recycled to recover its innate heating value. Even though it’s dirty and exhausted of lubricity, a gallon of used oil contains 140,000 BTUs of energy, approximately the same heating value of a new gallon of oil.

Used oil is a broad category that includes mixes of crankcase oils, transmission and hydraulic fluids, and industrial oils of many grades and qualities. EPA defines used oil as any oil refined from crude or synthetic that has been used and thereby contaminated by physical or chemical impurities. It’s not publicly traded as a commodity. Most transactions are private and most people involved in the business are reluctant to talk about price or the volume distributed. Therefore, there is scant and conflicting data on this sector.

Getting fluids out of vehicles used for scrap has also become faster and more efficient. In the past scrap yards extracted fluids manually, often assisted by homemade Rube Goldberg contraptions of lifts, funnels, hoses and tanks. Currently there are several manufacturers of self-contained fluid removal systems. One such is Enviro-Rack, made by Iron Ax, that meets EPA and state level regulations for fluid removal. By using air operation it avoids the sparking dangers posed by electric motors or gasoline engines and sucks a vehicle dry in less than five minutes. The system has a catch pan underneath to prevent ground contamination.

It is nice to know that recycling yards are working hard to be environmentally safe with waste oils and related products. Hopefully it will become a standard operating procedure for all junk yards and recycling yards. GotEngines.com voluntarily has been involved in engine oil recycling before it was fashionable. When it comes down to buying car engines, buy from the leader in replacement engines and environmental safety. Call us @ 1-877-268-0664.

Ford 6.8L Triton V-10 Engines

For pure muscle in high-cubic inch gasoline-powered engines, look no further than the new 6.8L SOHC 3V Triton V10 in a Ford Super Duty pickup. Like its kid brother, the 5.4L Triton V8, the 6.8L V10 features 3 valves per cylinder ( 2 intake, 1 exhaust) for increased power and efficiency. Couple this with an advanced tuned air management system, and you have outstanding load carrying and towing performance.

FORD 6.8L ENGINE SPECS

2007 – Max HP – 362 @ 4750 rpm
2007 – Max Torque – 457 @ 3250 rpm

Ford 6.8L Engine Specs / Highlights

# SOHC V-10 design features one camshaft in each cylinder
head operating 3 valves – 2 intake and 1 exhaust
# SOHC design provides an advanced level of valve control
# Deep-skirt engine block and low-friction internal components
mean greater reliability and fuel economy
# Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) uses electronic sensors and
motors instead of mechanical linkage to deliver
seamless and consistent engine response
# Silent-design chain cam drive contributes to durability and
helps reduce noise, vibration, and harshness
# Coil-on-plug ignition system design for high-mileage durability
# Centrally located, unique design, platinum-tipped spark plug
helps provide surefire ignition and complete combustion
# A fail-safe cooling system is designed to protect the engine
due to loss of coolant. If the engine overheats, it will
automatically switch from 10-cylinder operation to alternating
5-cylinder operation. The vehicle will continue to operate,
but with limited engine power. This system allows the driver to
travel a short distance to obtain service or to reach a repair
facility. The distance that can be traveled depends upon
vehicle load, outside temperature, and road conditions.

Ford Triton Engines for Sale: 4.6L, 5.4L and 6.8L Engines.

December 29th, 2009

The Triton engine is Ford’s modern line of overhead camshaft (OHC) V8 and V10 Modular truck engines.

The Modular engine, or “mod motor”, is Ford Motor Company’s modern overhead camshaft (OHC) V8 and V10 engine family. It gradually replaced the Windsor small-block and 385 big-block engines over several years in the mid-1990s. The engine is modular in that it can be adapted to V8 or V10 with a variety of 2-valve and multivalve heads. It is used in Ford trucks, (called the Triton) in Lincolns (called Intech) and in Ford and Mercury cars. In 2004 Ford introduced a 3-valve SOHC with a Variable Cam Timing system, this engine will eventually phase out the 2-valve SOHC, although it has replaced a 4-valve DOHC engine, at least temporarily, in the Lincoln Navigator.

The smallest Triton was the 4.6 L V8, based on the 90° Ford Modular engine design. This engine is available with either a cast iron or aluminum block, but both use aluminum heads. All 4.6 L Tritons are either 2-valve SOHC or, with the introduction of the 2006 Ford Explorer, 3-valve SOHC designs.

Ford’s plant in Romeo, Michigan produces five different 4.6 L modular V8s, of which two are Tritons. The two Triton lines are the cast iron units used in the Ford F-Series, Expedition, and Econoline and the aluminum block versions used in the Ford Explorer and Mercury Mountaineer.

The 2-valve SOHC version in the 2001 and later model years produces 231 hp. The 3-valve SOHC version produces 292 hp. Both use multi-port fuel injection, roller rockers, fracture-split forged powder metal connecting rods, and an assembled reinforced plastic intake manifold.

The Triton Ford Engines family includes a 5.4 liter 2 valve and 3 valve engine and a 6.8l 2 valve and 3 valve engine. We have a full stock of Ford Modular Triton Engines in stock and ready for shipment. All of our engines come with iron clad warranties designed to boost your confidence level. Ford Engines: Ford 2.0L Duratec Engines for Sale.

December 28th, 2009

Ford engines

Ford engines

The term Duratec can be confusing to many people because in Europe, all Ford gasoline engines are considered to be Duratec. In North America however, only the dual overhead cam engines carry the Duratec name.

For the US market, Duratec is a family of 4, 6 and 12 cylinder gasoline engines used primarily for Ford, Mazda, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles. The original Duratec was the 2.5L V6 as found in the Mondeo. With the introduction of the 2000 Mondeo, the 1.8L and 2.0L power-plants were converted to Duratecs.

Ford/Mazda 4-cylinder Duratec Engine Guide:

This engine is built in Mexico, Spain, China and Michigan by Ford. Ford dropped their old engines in 2004 for the new Mazda MZR design making the 2005 and newer Duratecs or Mazdas. This included the 2.0L Duractec 20, the 2.3L Duratec 23 and the all new 2.5L Duratec 25.

* The Duratec 20 is a 2.0 L found in the Ford Focus. This aluminum block engine and aluminum DOHC cylinder heads offers 136 hp producing 136 ft lb of torque. The Ford Focus sold in the clean air states of CA, NY, MA, VT and ME come PZEV (Partial Zero Emission Vehicle) equipped, which is also an option for any vehicles sold in borders states.
* The Duratec 23 is a 2.3 L version of the Duratec 20. Just like the Duratec 20, it has an aluminum engine block, lined with cast iron and aluminum DOHC cylinder heads.
* The Duratec 23EW is a Mexican-built engine used on the Focus up until and through 2007. It offers 151 hp with 154 ft lb of torque. A variation on this engine is used for the Mazda MAZDA6, Ford Fusion, and the Mercury Milan. This Duratec 23EW is found in the 2003-2007 Ford Focus.
* Duratec 23NS is a variation of the Duratec 23 with California PZEV emissions and can be found in the 2003-2007 Ford Ranger and Mazda B-Series. It offers 143 hp with 154 ft lb.
* The Duratec 25 offers more power at 171 hp and producing 171 ft lb of torque. There is also a Hybrid Duratec 25 that is going to be replaced soon with the Hybrid Duratec 23 version. As well, Ford is replacing the 2.3 L engine with a 2.5L which is to go into the 2009 Ford Escape, 2009 Ford Fusion, and 2009 Mercury Milan.
* The Duratec SCi (Smart Charge Injection) is a 1.8 L engine that first appeared in the 2003 Mondeo. Today it is available on the 2.0L engine. The SCi engines are designed in Germany but built in Spain. They are matched to a special six-speed manual transmission. Chart from www.Autotroplis.com-WikMobile.

By using the above chart, you can carefully determine which one of the Ford engines fits your car, or, you can call GotEngines.com @ 1-877-268-0664 to speak with a representative who has time to listen to your problem and outfit you with the replacement engine that suits your needs the best. Used Engines Sales: Affordale Engine Replacement Solutions.

December 27th, 2009

Sometimes unfortunate things happen to car engines that can’t be predicted. Lets say all of a sudden the engine in your car started to run poorly and you dropped it off at the local automotive engine repair shop. You fill out invoice filling in the “you want an estimate” part. He calls later and says you have an internal problem and we need to remove the engine to make an estimate.

This is a good time to start to talk about money and the cause of problem. It is a good idea to know how much money may be involved and why the problem occured. The problem may have happened because you ignored some important maintenance procedure like having your cooling system checked every year, and, the car overheated.

Perhaps it was something out of your control, like the ‘oil pump‘ is broken. It is important to know how much money you might spend, and what options are available. Now you can decide to have the shop give you an estimate for repairs to your engine: And the now shop goes into diagnostic mode.

If the estimate is really high, like over a 1250.00 dollars, and the vehicle has over 125,000 miles on it, you might want to make a good argument for one of our updated rebuilt engines, or perhaps one of our low mileage used engines. Especially if you get an estimate for 1500.00 or more dollars. Instead of putting the money in your old high mileage engine, which still has high a risk factor for other high mileage parts to fail, consider a replacement engine.

Part of our job at GotEngines.com is to provide plenty of quality content for automotive education to anyone who calls or emails us with an engine problem, in terms you will understand. We want our clients to make a decision that is in their best interests. In many cases the most important thing to consider is a clients needs and expectations for their car. With that in the mind, the most important thing people want is a good value and a long term reliable solution at an affordable price.

This is where we come in. GotEngines.com is your premium engine supply company. We have been outperforming all competitors by selling the best used engines and remanufactured engines available. Buy Engines: Rebuilt, Remanufactured and Low Mileage Used Engines.

December 26th, 2009

If I was asked who to buy engines from two years ago, I would not have a good answer. Without a doubt, if I was asked that question today, you know what my answer would be. The fact I have been blogging for this company exclusively, is a testimonial in itself. I could not work for a company that did not shoot square from the hip. I owned my own repair shop for to long. About 26 years long.

The best engine supply companies set the standards for which other shops follow, they don’t do the following. Knowing this helps understand why GotEngines.com has outperformed the competition, offering true peace of mind in every engine sold, by building pure value into every engine sold. More money goes into the products to insure the engines for sale exceed your expectations.

They sell rebuilt engines and remanufactured engines. Don’t be confused, both terms mean the same thing. One of their hottest sellers are the low mileage used engines. For foreign cars they offer JDM engines as another choice in your choices in replacement engines. Don’t be confused, call anytime @ 1-877-268-0664 if you have any questions. JDM Engines For Foreign Cars For Less..

December 24th, 2009

JDM Engines For Sale

JDM Engines For Sale

If you are wondering what JDM engines stands for, here we go. JDM is an acronym for Japanese Domestic Market. The JDM supplies all sorts of products to the USA. In this case we obviously are speaking of foreign car engines, mostly from Japan.

For all practical purposes, JDM engines are probably the best thing to come down the road for people needing to find foreign car engines with really low mileage that have been certified to have low mileage, using the vehicle identification number to access a data base which tells everything about that car since it was driven off the lot. It is hard to beat an engine of this caliber, especially since they are very affordable in cost.

What happens is that in Japan and many foreign countries the emission laws are very different than in America. To be more specific, in Japan, an engine has to be replaced, or rebuilt, or you need to buy a new car by the time it hits 40,000 miles. This is a great situation for many other places in the world, including the USA.

In America, an engine with only 40,000 miles on it is just barely broken in. Especially if the factory maintenance procedures were followed. With little modifications the engine can be changed to meet our emission regulations, with that in mind, we now have a terrific engine with low mileage at an affordable price.

Only the finest engine suppliers have the luxury of being exposed to these engines. Before they get released to suppliers, every supplier is checked out first, if you are not rejected, ( most are!), than you can have access to these engines to resell to the public.

We have been outperforming the competition for years by selling the best products available. Our dues have been paid and we get first access to these excellent replacement motors. For more information regarding these engines, you can read more of our blog. There are several posts on JDM engines which go into further detail. If you are already sold on one of our JDM engines for sale, then call one of our trained specialists at 1-877-26-0664. Trust me, they won’t let you down. GotTransmissons.com.

Buy Used Engines for Cars and Trucks That Don’t Quit..

December 23rd, 2009

Buy Used Engines

Buy Used Engines

Regardless of what condition the economy is in, car and truck engines will fail and people will need to locate used engines for their vehicles. As long as there is a demand for good used engines, you can bet that we will work harder than every other engine/motor supply company to make sure our company builds confidence in our clients. We think it is important that you know the company you buy engines from will be there next month or next year for your convenience.

We have been building confidence in our customers for years by outfitting them with hi quality and extremely reliable engines for their cars and trucks. We have built our reputation on quality and customer service. Our customers are loyal and demand the best money can buy. We have met the challenge over and over.

The challenge that needs meeting nowadays is making sure that the company you choose to deal with will be there for you next week, next month or next year to meet your service needs. What if you buy a product from a company and you had a great customer experience and bought a quality product, but you call back in a few months for customer service and they are gone, out of business? That is not a confidence builder.

Realistically speaking there is no way you can determine which companies will be there next month. The best companies make plans for every circumstance that may occur which could put a company in a bind. Any good business knows there are circumstances that slow down the works. Some of them are things you know will happen every year. Like it slows down in Florida in the summer every year, and gets busy in the late winter and spring as tourists and the folks who live here for six months every year flock down.

Because we know this will happen, adjustments are made and money is put away to make it through the tough times. In some cases unexpected problems arise which have to be addressed. We want you to know that we are always staying on top of being prepared for anything that can throw a cog in the gears.

Knowing that we are very prepared to survive anything is one of the best ways to build peace of mind in our customers by supplying the best replacement engines on the market, and being there for you if you need any customer service. GotEngines.com @ 1-877-268-0664

Chevy Engines: Engines on sale, affordable and reliable.

December 22nd, 2009

Chevy Engines

Chevy Engines

GM will double its global production of small four-cylinder engines (1.0L to 1.4L) by 2011, with more than half of the increase coming in North America. The strategy is highlighted by an all-new, 1.4L Turbo engine that will power the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze.

The 1.4L Turbo enables great vehicle performance and fuel economy. In fact, the Cruze is expected to be a fuel economy leader in its segment when it launches in mid-2010, and its new engine reinforces GM’s commitment to replacing larger-displacement engines with more compact, advanced four-cylinder engines that optimize performance and fuel savings.

One-third of GM’s North American engine volume will be four-cylinders by 2011, and 21 percent of the four-cylinder volume will be turbocharged – a seven-fold increase over today’s volume of turbo engines.

The 1.4L Turbo are an integral parts of GM’s line of advanced propulsion technologies, including cam phasing, direct injection, Active Fuel Management, clean diesels, hybrids, flex-fuel vehicles, six-speed transmissions and electric propulsion.

The Chevy Cruze is such a vehicle. It is an all-new, compact car that will be built for worldwide distribution at GM’s Lordstown, Ohio facility. It will be offered with the 1.4L Turbo in North America, along with additional small-displacement engines for models sold outside of North America.

A non-turbocharged 1.4L variant will serve as a secondary energy source for the 2011 Chevrolet Volt extended-range electric vehicle. For trips up to 40 miles, the Volt’s primary source of power comes from its lithium-ion battery. When the battery’s energy is depleted, the 1.4L engine activates, generating electricity to power the Volt for several hundred additional miles until its battery is recharged.

That is the latest dish from General Motors on new engine technology for small cars. Remember, GotEngines.com sells Chevy engines, that is our business, we also feel compelled to keep up to date on new happenings in the race for the best fuel economy. Toyota Engines: RAV4 2.0L Engine Failures.

December 21st, 2009

Toyota engines have sludge buildup problems, which have lead to many engine failures. The video below takes about 15 seconds to get going, however it is well worth watching. Very revealing in terms of what is happening to the engines and how Toyota is currently handling the issue.

Complaint: This just happened 2 days ago. The engine seized up while driving on I-88 – about 70 mph.

I had no problems with this car. It was just now due for an oil change. The oil level was good … not “full” but between the low & full marks on the dip-stick. I see comments about metal shavings in the oil. How common is this?

I expect a replacement engine will cost about $5000 or more.

Thoughts: This is not a unique or original problem, plenty of Rav4 owners have experienced this engine seizure problem.

We certainly hope this opens your eyes if you own a Toyota engine. The solution is to change the oil at more frequent intervals than the factory suggests. My service recommendation is every 3500 miles for an oil and filter change, using the factory recommended synthetic engine oil. It certainly is easier to modify your engine oil change intervals than have to buy a replacement engine and go through the pain and frustration involved in a car manufacturer not taking responsibility.

GotEngines.com sells engines, however we don’t wish bad luck on anyone. We feel it is our responsibility to bring these issues and solutions if available to you as a courtesy. Call us @ 1-877-268-0664 and speak with a trained representative who has the time to listen to your problem and provide the necessary information for you to make a decision that is in your best interests.
