Learn Why Our Used Engines Exceed All Expectations

May 29th, 2010

Thinking about replacement engines leads me to a suggestion, especially if your reason for reading this post is because you have had an engine failure. We think it’s a great idea to educate yourself on the subject before any decisions are made. The point is that knowing a little something about a subject of this nature is in your best interests before the right choice can be made.

Replacement engines come on all forms. Today seemed like a good day to talk about used engines because it is a holiday weekend and lots of people will hit the roads. That means more broken down cars, repairs and engine failures will occur. Lots of the problems that will happen do not have to happen, except that people can be negligent in caring for their cars, leaving some systems weakened, only to be discovered when you load the car for a trip and fill it with people and put it to the test on the road.

This post is not on maintenance anyway. If you want to read more on maintenance, than read more of our blog, that is the main purpose of blogging anyway, education. One of the choices I suggest looking into is a used engine. This is one of the great values in exchange engines if purchased from the right organization.

An engine or motor resource that has access to low mileage engines is a great place to start. Taking it one step further, lets assume every one of these low mileage used engines for foreign and domestic vehicles is tested on a machine called a dynomometer and every aspect of the engine has passed. That would up the odds of getting a power-plant with plenty of quality life in it.

When you can buy a good used engine with mileage as low as 20 to 30 thousand miles on it, you have an engine that is barely broken in. That is a great value in the first place and is more affordable than some of the other forms of replacement engines available with a better than new warranty. Ask your representative about that when you call us.

Don’t be bashful, make the call and become an educated consumer. Speak with someone who has excellent listening skills and will be able to recommend the best used engines available for you needs after going over the finer points of engine replacement. GotEngines.com @ 1-888-344-8044.

When Is It Time To Examine Replacement Car Engines?

Choose The Road To GotEngines.Com

Every now and then someone gets put in a spot where a decision has to be made in regards to replacing your car engine or replacing the car. An in depth evaluation of the whole car, it’s overall condition and determining if it is worthy of reclamation or be put to rest is in order.

First things first, if you really like the car or truck or SUV then the idea of keeping the vehicle is probably more palatable, unless you don’t care about what car you drive or about cars at all.

If your car is already on life support using such remedies as rebuild in a can for the engine or ”bring your worn car back to life” supplements to treat multiple problems that are relatively serious, maybe it is time to replace the vehicle. But if the bulk of the car or truck is solid and the body is still in good shape, it makes sense to invest enough money to bring your vehicle up to snuff than taking on a loan payment.

Most people feel like they made a mistake a few months into a loan payment when they reconsider their decision, in retrospect. So, for all practical purposes even though the grass may look greener on the other side. After we get there, it was not so green after all.

Thus lies the fork in the road, or as my dad might say, as you approach the biforkation, which road will you travel? Do you travel the fork that says replace the engine or, do you travel the fork that says replace the car?

In most cases the green grass is right in front of you. Most folks don’t consider that a replacement engine is exiting and can bring your car back to life. Once you realistically consider the renewed power, increase fuel economy and overall feeling of making a great decision, it turns out you already had the solution right on your own grass.

One of my suggestions to anyone who opts to buy a replacement engine, whether it’s a rebuilt engine or one of our low mileage used engines is to examine and then renew certain related components and hard to reach components when the engine is in the vehicle.

The major components include renewing the cooling system, replacing the motor mounts, and looking at every item bolted to the engine. Air conditioner compressor, water pump, power steering pump, alternator and the various other items under your hood.

Lets get down to brass tacks. Where do you buy engines that are reliable and affordable? Price is important, don’t get me wrong, but you can’t shop for a replacement engine by price.
You have to shop for quality first. Surprisingly enough, the most qualified suppliers of rebuilt engines are very cost friendly. What I mean is that a qualified replacement engine will last a long time, thus making it a great value.

My recommendation to anyone who needs to buy a rebuilt engine would be to contact one of the professional engine sales people at GotEngines.com and spend as much time discussing your needs with someone who genuinely can and wants to help you make the best decision for your interests. We welcome your calls and look forward to proving an education to all of our customers. Call us now at 1-888-344-8044.

Car Engines And Your Ignition Key

The Key To Your Car: GotEngines.com

Ever heard of the anti theft system used by GM in the ’90′s? It was one of the first good setups. Want to figure out if the car has a security system like this? If the key’s ‘slotted shaft’ has a small black rectangular piece embedded or glued in it, it is fair to assume you have a pass key system. It is called the ‘Pass Key’ security system.

More important, if your cars engine fails to start or do anything when the key is turned,, although it is probably not the key, it sure is easy to check it.

It turns out the system is pretty easy to bypass by mechanics and thief’s, but still effective for the most part. What is attached to the key is a resistor with a specific value. When you put the key in the ignition to start the car, the resistor allows the ignition to complete a circuit, thus allowing the car to start. If the key does not have a resistor or if the resistor is bad or it is the wrong one, the circuit won’t compute and prevents the car from starting.

There are two good reasons GM started using an anti theft system like this:
1) Inexpensive to produce and effective at the time.

2) Dependability. Think about how many times cars ignition key is twisted over the years. These keys have to be strong since they cost more than the old non resistor keys, they have to last for many years, and they should always work. If a system that relies on one tiny resistor, then that’s a good system to use because there is less that can go wrong.

Why have the resistor at all? The resistor is a good idea and a cost effective method of adding another degree of difficulty to your local car thief. This is an easy task for most mechanics and auto thief’s to beat. So, what I have to say below about repairing the circuit is well known by car thief’s and mechanics already.

The reason I am familiar with this subject is because I have had this problem with my 1995 Buick. I modified the system and added a resistor to the wiring harness on the hot side of the wire that goes to the ignition switch. It was easy to do and eliminated needing to replace the key, it cost less than $4 dollars to fix.

Find more interesting bits of auto information in our blog. We specialize in replacement engines of all sorts. We are also here to provide an education to our consumers. Partly to help decide how to choose a replacement engine and part to help the handy part time mechanic perform some simple repairs. Enjoy. GotEngines.com 1-888-344-8044.

Car Engines-Long Block or Short Block?

Engines for Sale, Long Blocks and Short Blocks

Engines for Sale, Long Blocks and Short Blocks

When an unpleasant situation occurs and you are facing a repair to your car or truck engine, knowing the basics about engine assemblies is critical. Knowing something about the options, parts and choices, rebuilt or remanufactured engine block assemblies available is the key to your success. Becoming an educated consumer is the best medicine for sorting through your engine choices.

Knowing the specifications and type of engine in question, is key to assisting with your selection and eventual purchase. A short block is considered automotive jargon. Engine short block assemblies, combination’s are closely related to long block engine assembly’s.

The definition of a short block could be put, as all of the engine block sub-assemblies consisting of all of the related internal components rebuilt and installed. No heads or intake manifold.

Long block assemblies are fully assembled engines with rebuilt cylinder heads, manifold/s, rebuilt or new fuel system, new head and intake manifold gasket set.

All types of engines including ‘inline’ or ’straight’ engines, with all of the cylinders in a single row. Or”V” type engines, with two rows of cylinders in a V shape using one crankshaft and one block. Flat or pancake engines are flat engines where the cylinders are opposed or at 180 degrees apart. Like my 1970 Porsche 911 T engine.

The short block engine is normally just the rebuilt block with new pistons with rings and a crankshaft kit with bearings a new cam and timing gear set, all it is missing is the heads and or intake setup in most cases. Always ask what you are getting in the package that interests you.

The long block is as close to a fully rebuilt engine assembly as possible. It is the complete engine as it would be pulled from its under hood space. Manifold, accessories and wiring intact.

Want to be an educated engine consumer? One way is to read more of the articles in our blog concerning engines and replacement. If you prefer to speak with a human, call GotEngines.com and discuss your needs with us, and we will recommend some engine options that fits your budget and needs. 1-888-344-8044.

Air Conditioner Compressors For Sale.

May 22nd, 2010

The heat is setting in here in Florida and some of the systems in automobiles will be tested because of the extreme heat. Every part of the car gets hotter, especially drive-train components. Systems like the radiator and all of it’s related components, and the cars engine and transmission are particularly sensitive to heat.

The system that some of us consider the most important in summer in Florida has started to act up in my 1995 Buick Roadmaster Wagon. Yup, the air conditioner is not cooling all the way. A/C systems have a habit of failing at the wrong time, like when it is 95 degrees out, which makes it an emergency. I may be looking at air conditioner compressors for sale.

Air Conditioner Compressors For Sale

Air Conditioner Compressors For Sale

I had an idea the A/C might not be up to par a few weeks ago when it was taking longer to cool my ride off. A few days ago I went to the store and the a/c did not work well. It started to push some cool air on my return home, but not cold enough. Yesterday, the problem became etched in granite, when I got in the car and the a/c did almost no cooling, and it was about 90 degrees outside. Emergency!

I’m not an air condition repair person by trade, but I can definitely fix it. So I will go through a diagnosis procedure to figure out what is wrong. Checking it out is not a difficult procedure most of the time. The most important tools to have are a freon sniffer and a set of a/c gauges with the freon adapter.

I don’t own these tools, however my friend Hank Shepperd of Shepperd’s automotive will be nice enough to lend me the tools to use at his shop. The first thing I will do is recharge the system with the proper refrigerant type. Once the system is recharged it should be back to getting cold. The idea behind charging the system is to find the leak, and the system has to be full of freon and under pressure to find a leak.

Now we get out the freon sniffer, which is an ultra sensitive tool for finding even the tiniest freon leak. Once the leak is determined, we have to decide what avenue will give the best repair for a fair price. Remember, we don’t cheat when it comes to repairs. That does not mean I have to buy the most expensive parts available.

What it means is that we need to fix the system, and that means we need to examine every part of the a/c system that is not the leak area too. If the a/c compressor is bad and a replacement is needed, an air sealed low mileage used a/c compressor from GotEngines.com is my choice for price and value. I’ll keep you informed on my progress as it goes. Call 1-888-344-8044 for a/c compressors too.

Value Plus..Land Rover Diesel Engines For Sale

Diesel Engines For Sale. Land Rover Engines

Diesel Engines For Sale. Land Rover Engines

Land Rover Discovery has a new engine out, It’s codename is Storm, being installed in the vehicles are labeled “Td5″.

This is anline 5-cylinder diesel engine with an OHC with single rocker ramp and Hydraulic lifters. Hi pressure electronic fuel injectors are controlled by a high tech computer system. The camshaft and oil pump are chain driven (which is a good thing)
Built right into the vehicle is an Integrated oil cooler and a brand new super advanced computer system.

By the mid-1990s the Rover Group knew it needed to produce some new designs that would be able to meet emissions legislation for the foreseeable future. The recently-released K-Series gasoline engine fits the bill. But Rover had no diesel engines suitable for both its cars and its 4×4s.

Rover then decided to engineer a new diesel engine design to be produced in various forms for all of Rover’s needs. Project Storm’s design and responsibility was that of Land Rover who were to build the engines. The Storm utilized Electronic Unit Injection by Lucas and an aluminum cylinder head on a cast-iron block. The overhead camshaft operates both valves and the injectors and is chain-driven. The Storm design engines come in 4, 5 and 6-cylinders. Only the 5-cylinder version made it to production as the power-plant for the Defender and the new Discovery Series II as the ‘Td5′ in 1998. Offering more power and better manners than the 300Tdi the Td5 greatly improved the market appeal of the Discovery. Early engines suffered from flaws causing premature engine failure in many cases. Although these faults were fixed within 2 years of the engine production and the Td5 is now the most reliable engine Rover offers. The engine has proved itself on numerous expeditions in hostile terrain. The engines’ mechanical strength and electronic control systems makes the Td5 much more tunable than the older engines.

The resurgence of Land Rover in last 12 years means more people will need replacement engines. You can expect the best quality rebuilt Land Rover engines from GotEngines.com at very affordable pricing, considering the value we build into each engine sold. Allow us to assist you with any questions or your needs in relation to Land Rover engines. Call now 1-888-344-8044.

Why Does Nitrous Oxide Make Car Engines Faster?

May 20th, 2010
NOS and Car Engines

NOS and Car Engines

Nitrous Oxide, better known as NOS makes car engines go faster but it’s not that simple. The way it works is as follows, when nitrous oxide is heated to about 570degrees F, it changes form, to oxygen and nitrogen. Injection of nitrous oxide into an engine means more effective oxygen is available, which effectively raises compression. Because you have more oxygen, you can also force more gasoline into the engine and that means more power and speed.

Nitrous oxide has another effect that improves performance as well. As it vaporizes, nitrous oxide actually has a cooling effect on air coming through the intake manifold. As you increase the oxygen’s intake, you raise the air’s effective density, and this provides even more explosion in the cylinder.

Like any gas, it takes up a fair amount of space when compressed into a liquid. A 5L engine running at 4,000 rpm uses approximately 10,000 liters of air every minute, so it would take a huge amount of nitrous oxide to run a car continuously. Therefore, a NO2 container only carries only a few short bursts worth of nitrous oxide, adding up to a couple of minutes max. And the driver uses it very carefully by pushing a button.

The biggest problem with NO2 is that most of the folks that install a ‘big’ nitrous kit for using the car for racing purposes. Auto Engines are not structurally setup from the factory to use NO2 very much or you will have an engine failure. The intense compression developed by adding more oxygen to the fuel mixture and resulting heat generated by more compression will at a minimum, burn the tips off of the spark plugs.

People that overuse NO2 end up buying replacement engines. Some of the parts casualties from too much nitrous would include burning a hole in a piston, burning a valve and other heat related damage.

Having made the above statements, we sell plenty of replacement engines to the nitrous oxide street racer crowd. Especially the small engined Japanese cars the kids hop up nowadays. If you need to replace your engine and want a stronger product, call one of our staff members and ask about our crate engines for sale. Call us @ 1-888-344-8044. GotEngines.com

More, Ford’s 6.7-liter Power Stroke Diesel Engines

May 19th, 2010

The capacity and durability built into the new Ford F-350 6.7-liter diesel engines starts with a new engine block design. This is the first use of a CGI block in North America in this size of vehicle, Ford and other manufacturers have used this material in engine blocks in other products.

The engines oil pan, which is part of, and bolts to the transmission, also acts as added structural support to Ford’s legacy of bulletproof engine design.

Built Ford Tough testing procedures ensures real world durability. The testing procedures developed for the 6.7-liter V-8 turbocharged diesel incorporates the most unusual and difficult engine tests Ford has ever engineered.

Customer input, including different driving styles, road conditions and amount of loads carried and towing played a key role in developing the testing program that best copied the usage of a vehicle such as this.

Components were tortured in the research and development department using regimens designed to fully exceed even the most destructive use a customer might dish out. Engines ran continuously for many hundreds of hours. Finally, a full array of real-world tests proved the work done in the engineering department showed the design was superior. Customers are the ultimate test drivers.

The new engine will use bio-diesel fuel, which allows customers an option of using diesel blends up to 20 percent bio-diesel and 80 percent petroleum diesel.

These tests help the engineers the to cover the full range of duties Super Duty customers dream up. From those who run their trucks at maximum power with a maximum load for long periods, to those who use them more in a start-stop mode.

Except for the problematic 6L diesel engine by Ford, the lines of Ford diesel engines have proven to be some of the most reliable light duty truck diesel engines on the market. “Our approach to doing business mirrors Fords methods of proving their engines will survive the test of man and time”.

We put every diesel engine through our own testing procedures before we make them available to the public. GotEngines.com wants to make sure we build confidence, pure value and provide a positive customer experience for all. After all, there is a good chance you are here to buy diesel engines or something of that nature. Call us now for more information on power for your truck. 1-888-344-8044.
