4bt Cummins Diesel Engines

4bt Cummins Diesel Engines

The 3.9L or 4BT Cummins diesel engines are designed for light duty vehicles and small commercial equipment. The 3.9L/4B is an straight or inline 4 cylinder turbo-diesel engine that was popular for many step van type applications, including milk trucks, delivery vehicles, service work trucks and other less known commercial applications. It is also the small brother of the 6b engine, which are the engines in Dodge 3500 and 2500 diesel pickups.

The 6BTA5.9 L B5.9 was the first member of the Cummins “B” series engine family. Which was to become known for the one liter per cylinder design to be used in a passenger vehicles. This engine and its cousin the 4BT3.9 was introduced in 1983 or 84 as a part time truck engine and part time agricultural engine designed for use in Case agricultural equipment. A combined effort in resources between Cummins Engine Corp. and Case called Consolidated Diesel Corp is the name of a joint venture between Case and Cummins diesel to produce said engines.

The engine was originally designed by Cummins with the help of Case Corporation for commercial work equipment used to power stationary equipment like power generators as well as light and medium duty truck applications. The first mass production agreement was for the engines to be used in Dodge pickups as their first venture into diesel powered vehicles.

The model year 1989 was a first for Dodge Ram pickup trucks. The engine has been used in nearly every way imaginable from boats, farming purposes of all sorts, industrial and commercial tools and service equipment, conventional and passenger vehicles too. It has stood the test of time, literally and proven to be one of the most widely used engines ever produced.

The original US plant in Rocky Mount, NC was still was operating in 2007, where the first production B engines were manufactured as a joint venture with Case. Later the Walesborough, Indiana plant re tooled their equipment to produce the Dodge engines also. Currently (as of 2007) the total production of 4b and 6b engines combined is over 1000 engines per day from both facilities. Also, the engine is built in the UK & Brazil (possibly other locations in the world).

Some of the newer 4b version QSB (electronic controlled) that are built in Brazil and go in the Ford F150 trucks. Contrary to many beliefs, the computer controlled diesel engines are every bit as complicated as a late model luxury car gas engine. In fact they run so smoothly it’s hard to detect a diesel engine except for more external engine noise.

Diesel engine jargon is different than gasoline engine jargon. Make sure you buy diesel engines from an authority or suffer the consequences of getting the wrong engine for your application or maybe a bad engine. Diesel engines have been an enigma to many people for a long time. We have a department set up for diesel engines by diesel engine people. Want to buy the right diesel engines? Ford 5.8L Engines

Thanks: Ford 5.8L Engines for Sale

Thanks: Ford 5.8L Engines for Sale.

I was surprised to hear the Ford 5.8L or 351 cubic inch gasoline engines were built through 1994. The first 351 engines were produced in the early ’70′s. The three main versions were the Cleveland (C), Modified (M) and the Windsor (W). Being built in Cleveland, Ohio and Windsor, Ontario respectively. I’m not sure where the M was built. Basically it was a large version of the venerable 302 or 5.0L cubic inch motors.

It was very popular as a big ‘small block’ Ford Engine. Part of Fords FE series of engines. Fitting a gap between the full sized ‘big block’ engines of the day. It provided plenty of power for pickup trucks that needed more oomph than the 302, yet was more fuel efficient than the big monster engines.

In it’s ‘car’ versions, it came through in mild mannered forms to accommodate the nice manners an automobile must have. The engines used carburetors originally and came through from the factory with a 2 barrel (throat) and 4 barbel carburetor. The 2 barrel engine had mild manners yet was quite peppy. The 4 barrel version was quite spicy and propelled a car with more gusto than expected.

My dad had a 1972 Ford Grand Torino (what the heck is that) and it had the 4 barrel carb. It had plenty of go fast for a sue-do luxury car, at that time. It took a 19 year old kid to find out how fast it would go!

Enough confusion on Clevelands, Modified and Windsor series 5.8L Ford engines. The bigger point is how to identify the differences in engines should you ever want to replace the engine in your car or truck. If you know what valve covers are than this might help. Ford put a sticker on the valve covers which clearly had written on it, the designation of the engine. Like 351M for a 351 modified, and so on.

Of course, that did not really tell you if it had a 2 or 4 barrel carburetor, or if it was a newer 90′s model only available with fuel injection. The best way to decide what version you have is as simple as the VIN, vehicle identification number. The engines are not swappable in some cases, so you can imagine the frustration when someone orders an engine from the ‘cheapest’ company around and gets the wrong engine.

That is why we are here. If you are looking to buy a rebuilt 351 cubic inch or 5.8L engine (call it what you want), our staff has plenty of experience and education in determining which model 351 engine you have in your vehicle and what type of rebuilt Ford engines suit your interests and budget. Smart Mechanics Choose 6.8L Ford Engines..GotEngines.com

For pure pulling power for your Ford pickup truck, here is a good solution. These new large-cubic inch gasoline-powered internal combustion engines are becoming one of the most popular engines manufactured by Ford. These 6.8L SOHC 3V Triton V10 engines are for the Ford Super Duty series of pickups and large SUV’s.

It’s smaller brother, the 5.4L Triton V8 employs the exact same head and valve arrangement as the 6.8L V10, with 3 valves per cylinder ( 2 intakes, 1 exhaust) for increased power and efficiency. Combine these ingredients with an advanced tuned air management system, and you have outstanding recipe for durability and performance.

More of Fords 6.8L Engine design updates have been integrated into the design of this motor to increase functionality. The SOHC V-10 design integrates one camshaft in each cylinder head (as all single overhead camshafts setups have) operating 3 valves in total, 2 intake and 1 exhaust and the power is distributed by an Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) which uses electronic sensors and motors instead of mechanical linkage to deliver effortless and reliable power on demand.

A Silent-design chain front camshaft timing setup drive helps add to the durability and reduces noise and engine vibration. Although I’m a fan of a good old fashioned timing chain.

The ultra-reliable fail-safe cooling system is designed to protect the engine due to loss of coolant. If the engine overheats, it uses an arrangement of computers to
automatically switch from 10-cylinder operation to a 5-cylinder operation. The vehicle will continue to operate, but in a reduced capacity. Which gives the driver a period of time to limp into the dealer or repair shop before any damage is done.

Not all of the computerization is bad, a fail safe/limp in mode saves lots of engines form premature and unnecessary failures. Computers are how we produce large engines that afford us good mileage and performance with nice manners. A point of interest about computerized engines is that the first thing to check if you have a drive-ability problem would be the computer system.

For more educational material about engines please examine more of our blog, it is stocked full of valuable information you may not be familiar with or may prove helpful in the process of buying a replacement engine. An informed consumer makes the best decisions, so call anytime and feel free to ask questions.

To purchase a Ford 6.8L Triton V-10 engine, or any Ford Engines for sale, Call GotEngines.com @ 1-888-344-8044 our knowledgeable representative have plenty of time to provide enough information to you, making a great choice for your budget and driving interests.

Ford 4.1L Engines

Ford Engines. #1 Replacement Engine Source GotEngines.com

Ford Engines. #1 Replacement Engine Source GotEngines.com

One of the most successful Ford engines ever made was the Ford Inline or straight 6 cylinder 250, a 4.1L six-cylinder engine. Offered as a 200 cubic inch motor as standard equipment, and as an option available for the 1969 Ford Mustang engines, and the standard engine for the mid-sized line of Ford cars (such as the Ford Maverick and Fairlane) in the 1970 production year. The Inline Six 250 would soon become the standard engine offered by Ford with their Mustang in 1971.

This same engine would be rated at only 98 hp in 1972 and this rating would drop to 88 hp in 1971 based on constant emission upgrades. Both engines look the same from the outside, unless you have a trained eye. So, if you happen to be interested in acquiring a rebuilt 250 engine you may want to contact an engine replacement specialist.

The Inline Six 250 can be distinguished externally from the 200 by five freeze plugs on the side of the engine block (as opposed to 3 freeze plugs on the 200 engine) and the seven main bearings journals on this engine.

The Ford Inline Six 250 is essentially an Inline Six 200 that has had the stroke increased by exactly .0784 inches. These changes to the Ford Inline Six 200 increased the power ratings, making it acceptable for use in the light duty trucks. Ford produced several versions of this motor depending ion the application.

Around the same time, Ford Australia introduced the new 2V cylinder head, which was externally identical to the old design, except the aluminum intake came with a Stromberg 2V carburetor. This version of the Inline Six 250 came equipped with a more efficient exhaust manifold that allowed it to ‘breath easier’ with more power. The cylinder head change became popular, and was used extensively in North America by racing enthusiasts.

This engine has served it’s owners well. If you are here to buy a 250 Ford engine, perhaps with our assistance we can outfit you with an exact match replacement engine for your vehicle. During the period this engine was made, it was popular to produce several versions of one engine that met the needs of said vehicle it was going to be installed in at the factory. Instead of producing 5 different engine options per vehicle.

One way to be sure you get the exact replacement for your vehicle is to deal with a company that will identify your needs first, and then suggest an motor to suit your budget and driving needs. By asking you relevant questions to determine whether a rebuilt engine is in your best interests as opposed to one of our other replacement engines choices. UZ Series Of Toyota Engines Selling For Less

June 24th, 2010

The UZ series of engines by Toyota are their only V8 engine. The displacement of this engine ranges from 4.0L up to 4.7L.

The 1UZ was used in various Lexus car models including the LS400, SC400, and GS400 in the USA. The 1UZ motor first appeared around 1989 in the LS400 here in America and continued largely unchanged up until 2001 when the 3UZ was introduced. There are three generations of the UZ engine series.

The Gen 1 engine became available in 1989 and ended in 1994. A redesigned version of the 1UZ came out in 1995 that uses a different type of air flow meter (AFM) and sequential fuel injection producing up to 300hp. The engines look very similar except.

In 1999 the 1UZ got VVTi which is another complicated acronym for (Variable Valve Timing with intelligence) and is more advanced than the earlier engines. It has variable length manifold inlet runners and the throttle body mounts on the front of the plenum chamber. Also the engine uses cam gears instead of a chain or belt.

If you are trying to locate a replacement engine for your Toyota, we have proven over many years that we are the most trusted source of reliable Toyoya engines for sale on the internet by out working the competition to provide 100 percent customer satisfaction. We provide the education and you will end up making a solid decision that is in your best interests. GotEngines.com @ 1-888-344-8044.

Used Cummins Engines

Used Cummins Engines

Used Cummins Engines

Looking for a used Cummins Engine? Or do you have a fleet of trucks with Cummins diesel engines and need multiple engines, or a reliable supplier who has inventory ready to ship ASAP? We have built our used engines business around supplying construction equipment, commercial over the road trucks and Dodge pickups with certified ‘good’ used engines.

Cummins is well known for providing ultra reliable power for the largest demolition equipment and the giant trucks used in strip mining operations. They produce engines that operate remote stationary equipment such as oils rigs and equipment in isolated places where reliability is the most important facet. Sometimes remote motors are transported in awkward manners to isolated areas in the world.

Dodge chose Cummins to produce both versions of the inline six cylinder diesel engine used in their pickup trucks. Time has proven how reliable an engine built to handle serious usage can be, that Dodge had a good idea. Believe it or not, light duty trucks comprise an amazing 20 percent of what Cummins produces now.

Their strong point, until their interest in light duty engines, happens to be large equipment. Engines for cement mixers, ‘semi’ over the road trucks, giant cranes that help build multi story buildings and many more items than I can’t think of.

Buying used Cummins diesel engines is one of the ways smart business owners avoid some of the pitfalls of a poor economy. Paying a fraction of the cost of renewing an engine, the value is clearly found in the money savings. A road truck might go over 500,000 miles before it needs a rebuild. Buying a used engine with less than 100,000 miles on it for a small percentage of the cost of a rebuilt engine is a quality that the smart bean-counters understand and practice.

We are working for a major fleet company who owns over 100 semi trucks and want to purchase engines from us. The main reason is not cost either. Although our prices are very competitive. They buy from us because we sell certified used engines with a terrific warranty. Ask about it when you call.

My suspicion is that anyone who is here looking for good used diesel engines produced by Cummins already has an idea of exactly what you want. We enjoy dealing with folks who already know about the products they are interested in. If you need assistance call us at 1-888-344-8044 and speak with a diesel engine expert, hipped up on all of the nuances of Cummins diesels.

By the way, if a used engine is not what you are looking for, we also sell Rebuilt Cummins Engines too.

Rebuilt Cummins Engines

Rebuilt Cummins Diesel Engines

Rebuilt Cummins Diesel Engines

The B-series Cummins diesel engines will be referred to in the history books as one the most important engine development projects of four and six-cylinder inline engines for the auto industry using the popular 3.9L four-cylinder and 5.9L six-cylinder engines. The B-series is commonly used in many markets all over the world, including pick-up trucks, and all sorts of equipment that uses ‘small’ compact V series diesel engines.

Known by diesel engine people as the “one-liter per cylinder” engine.

The first engine, a four cylinder engine rolled off the line July 1983 and the primary goal by Cummins was to manufacture an indestructible V series diesel engine reminiscent of the incredible success that was built over a long period of time. The 3.9L engine began production in 1984 as an agricultural engine for use in Case products.

The B series engine family was a big gamble by Cummins’, entering the smaller diesel engine market to enlarge their line and service smaller equipment than the typical equipment used in the large diesel market. A big chance at the time that paid dividends, eventually becoming more than 20 percent of Cummins’ current total production. As a result, Cummins took a huge step toward operating and supplying engines for Dodge pickup trucks.

In this article we will focus on the six-cylinder 5.9L engine that most of you are familiar with in the diesel series of Dodge Ram pickup trucks. There are two engines available, the original design which has two valves per cylinder and the ISB called the Interact System B-Series, with 4 valves per cylinder.

Initially, Cummins needed a big time customer in the competitive automotive field to plant a small version of a proven super duty diesel engine in it for research. After nearly four years of discussion, Chrysler, which did not have a diesel pickup at the time such as Ford and GM, completed an agreement, and the 5.9 B engine would go into the 1989 Ram pickups.

Chrysler did not have in house designers or engineers on staff at the time, so they subbed out the engine production to a company with diesel experience, which was offered on Cummins. Cummins actually had to do their own on road research for their prototype engines by producing the first 30 vehicles for Chrysler.

Any information you may need about any Cummins diesel engine can be found using the Control Parts List on the engine data specification plate. The CPL is basically the same thing as a line setting sheet, and it tells you every possible specification of said engine and related parts. For the Dodge 5.9L it can be found on or near the driver side of the front timing cover. Use the CPL with the engines serial number you’ll have all the information for parts and service.

Cummins has a long well respected history. It looks like Dodge made a good choice by subletting out their diesel engine needs to a company known for it’s integrity. If you are in the market for a rebuilt engine for your dodge pickup truck, we are your source. We are not limited to the B-series Cummins engines. Call GotEngines.com @ 1-888-344-8044 and find out how much help we offer you in choosing the right engines for your needs.

5.0 Ford Engines

June 21st, 2010

In 1968 Ford increased the size of their ‘small block’ engines from 289 cubic inches to 302 cubic inches. A liter is 61.5 cubic inches, so 5 times 61.5 equals 307.5, or darn close to 302 cubic inches. The very first Ford small block engine was 221 cubic inches and was introduced in 1962.

Ford slipped a few extra cubic inches into the 289 and the 302 became one of the longest running engines Ford ran production on until it was retired in 2001. It is still available from the finest engine replacement companies, referred to as crate engines, brand spanking new. It came in all sorts of variations, from the 2 barrel carbureted version that went in the everyday go getters, to the super bad Boss 302.

I had an old Ford Fairlane station wagon with a 302 for a while, it was an excellent running car, not a hot rod or anything, which is why I sold it! One of my first cars was a 1966 Shelby Mustang and that had the 289GT engine which has solid lifters and an aluminum intake manifold. It was a hot running engine, faster that greased lightening.

The 289GT and Boss 302 engines sprung some heavy competition in the Trans Am series of racing between the big 3 automakers. All three introduced their respective versions of cars to compete with the Mustang.

As it turned out the engine was so reliable structurally that they decided to keep it in production for what seems like forever. One of the reasons for not changing the cubic inch size or redesigning the whole engine was that it was so compatible to each new level of technology that there was no need to introduce an other design of engine in the ‘small block’ category until it was progressively replaced by the 4.6 L Ford Modular engine starting in the early 1990s.

Even a walking talking informational factory on small block Ford Engines of the 302 size can’t go into full detail on every version ford produced. The bottom line is it was one of the most successful engines ever made and fits the bill of many vehicles during it’s extensive production run.

My suggestion to you if you are looking for Ford 5L engines for sale is to call GotEngines.com and speak with someone who has the information right in front of them and has plenty of time to describe your options in terms you will understand. 1992 Subaru Loyale Engine News-Tips

June 20th, 2010

So my question: I have a Subara Loyale, 1992, and the timing belt broke. How do I find out if it’s interference or non-interference? (I just found out that I really want it to be interference…. right? So it can be fixed?) I have two friends that have “looked on-line” but they both have had different answers. How do I find out for sure?

Answer: Thanks for asking the question on our forum. The 1.8 Subaru Engine used in the Loyale is an Interference motor, and the motor will bend the Valves If the Timing Belt Breaks. Any time a timing belt breaks, regardless of whether it is an interference engine or not, you probably have more problems.

With the engine almost 20 years old I would have a professional examine it before you make any decisions on how to approach the situation. You may find that a good used engine will cost less than fixing an old engine with a broken timing chain.

Before jumping into an expensive repair, have the integrity and structure of the engine checked out first. Friends are nice, but unless your friends are professional mechanics, they have no more realistic ability than you to decide what is in your best interests.

You wouldn’t call a dentist if you had chest pains. Seek professional help. Most of the time the engine is fixable, even if it is not worth it. The big decision is how much wear and damage is in your current engine. You have to weigh out if a repair is in your best interest or would a replacement be more suitable.

1992 Subaru Loyale Engines for Sale

1992 Subaru Loyale Engines for Sale

Things I would consider are the overall mileage and other any other problems that the engine may have. you certainly don’t want to put a bunch of money in a timing chain repair only to have something else expensive break in your old engine.

Get an estimate on a good used engine with a warranty. You may find out that a reputable company like GotEngines.com has good used engines for sale with low miles on it which will be way more cost effective than fixing an old worn out engine. Call an experienced representative and learn more about the nuances of engine replacement. 1-888-344-8044.

Used Engines For Sale

June 19th, 2010

Sooner or later everyone comes to realize that unforeseen obstacles get in the way of the best planned budgets. Some folks take extreme efforts to figure out their budgets so they can live within their means. Even the best of plans, where you figure in a certain amount of extra money for unexpected expenses can be blown out of the water with one expensive incident. Such as a major engine failure.

Our used engines for sale are surprisingly well priced and provide an equitable solution for the cost conscious consumer. Even we are surprised at how many of our customers are choosing this very viable option to get their cars back on the road. Ninety eight percent of car owners would not even know the difference between a remaufactured engine and a low mileage used engine by driving the car.

The secret is locating used motors that are removed from cars with less than 40,000 miles. One of our specialties is doing the homework for you, finding the cream of the crop. At 40,000 miles, a well maintained used unit is one of the best values in the automotive replacement parts field.

One of the things I really like about a low mileage used engines is that we make good use the VIN, an acronym for vehicle identification number to identify the engine that comes in your car. By using the VIN, we can locate through CarFax a car or truck with the exact same engine identification as yours, with it’s full repair history so we can decide if it is worthy of sale.

This is more important for newer computerized cars. The computer commands the engine to perform exactly the way it should using an array of sensors and input devises. Even if two engines look exactly the same on the outside, one may be produced for a luxury car such as a Chrysler Imperial and the other may be for a pickup truck.

Certainly you would not want a pickup truck engine in your luxury car, and how long would a luxury car engine last in a pickup truck used for work purposes? I think you understand the importance of dealing with an outlet that knows the engine business.

Before you make any decisions concerning your purchase of a replacement engine, take the time to call us @ 1-888-344-8044 and speak with one of our staff members about the merits of buying a used engine with value built into it. We guarantee it. All of our units are pre tested and certified, the ones that don’t pass the test go back the recycle yard. GotEngines.com.
