The larger BMW engines, optional in the BWM Z4 is the 3.0i. 3.0-liter engine, with 225 hp and 214 lb-ft. of torque. It has been further improved for an even more exciting ride, and it has a really nice sound to the exhaust. One quick spin around the block and you can feel the raw, pure power difference from it’s small brother the 2,5i engine.

It has the power to propel the Z4 3.0i to 60 mph in just 5.9 sec.; top speed is electronically governed to 155 mph. With its standard (and new) 6-speed manual transmission, the Z4 3.0i has excellent projected EPA mileage ratings of 21-mpg city / 29-mpg highway; with automatic it tests at an impressive 20/28 for a car that can go this fast.

The standard transmission in the 3.0i is a brand-new 6-speed unit. It weighs no more than the 5-speed of the previous Z3 3.0i, this manual gearbox incorporates refinements for even greater driving pleasure.

This engine is an upgrade in power over the 2.5Li engine. Most enthusiasts decide on the larger engine we are describing here. Most buyers of the Z4 BMW are in some sort of competition with the Porsche Boxter, so more power makes one more competitive. I still think the Boxter is a better performance car, in fact for the money, the Boxter may be the best performance deal in the world.

Back to BMW, that is an opinion by the way, other than I own a 1970 Porsche 911, which is no match for a newer BMW Z4 in many ways, I have no scientific proof to etch my opinion in granite that Porsche is better.
