Keep Cool: Keep An Eye On Car Engines Temperature

AAA towed me to the dealer before they opened, I wanted to be first. I saw the service writer and she made up an invoice and I signed where it said ”I want an estimate” before work is started. She told me he would get a look at it right away so I waited around to see what was up. I simply have the need to look over the undercarriage and examine the cars engine myself. If not, we will not do business.

After about an hour the mechanic reported to the service writer. The problem was very simple. It turns out that one of the molded heater hoses under the coolant reservoir, attached to the heater distributor valve, with several other heater hoses had a small pinhole in it and had leaked out enough coolant to cause the gauge to rise, but we had stopped before the engine overheated. Good thinking probably saved our 4.3L V-6 Vortec engine from a meltdown.

At that point I signed the estimate and she said the van should be ready at about 2:00 that afternoon, and she offered me a ride to the hotel and to pick me up when it was done and road-tested. Very nice.

Got our call at 1:45 PM, they picked me up 35 minutes later, and we reloaded our van and were back on the road. It was a bit after 3 PM when we headed out and we drove for about 4 hours and re-stopped for the night. At that point we were about half way there, normally we would have been pulling into my parents driveway.

My point is that we did not panic, kept a level head and did the logical thing. I decided on a dealership because number one, they have to be accountable for their work, which means almost every brand of car manufacturer has to offer a nationwide warranty on parts and labor.

If my engine had become damaged the most important thing to me would be to replace it with a fully remanufactured and upgraded replacement engine. Not all rebuilt engines are the same. As with anything you purchase, you have crappy, good and excellent lines of products.

Who would I use? GotEngines.com because I am very familiar with the products they sell and have a tremendous amount of confidence in their products. Part of the reason is because I blog for Mr. Brian Hanson who owns the company. He is a man of absolute integrity and his company operates with integrity.

I know every one of the rebuilt engines sold by GotEngines.com has value built right into it. It will also come with a nationwide guarantee, with several options regarding time of warranty and the mileage amount. A plan fro every need. Trust me, I’ve been an active mechanic for over 35 years . Call 1-888-344-8044.
