The Vortec 4300 (4.3L) is possibly one of GM’s biggest achievements in engine technology. Replacing the venerable inline-six Chevrolet 250 engine, the 4300 is a junior version of the 350 V-8. It made its debut in 1985 and remains today a durable, fuel-efficient and problem-free engine. The Chevy engines named the Vortec 4300 series provide a reasonable amount of horsepower and can be found in Chevy Asrto vans and GMC Safari vans, cars and trucks.

As mentioned, it is based on the super reliable 350 or 5.7L engine. It’s integrity in design and structure make it a very desirable motor as the evidence suggests. The GM counterparts are built on 1500 series truck chassis and will outlast the foreign van engines and chassis by nearly double. FYI: I rented a Toyota Sienna Van last year. I was not impressed with the fuel mileage (22 mpg at 75mph) and it was not particularly comfortable.
