The 2005 Dodge Dakota’s 4.7-liter Magnum engines were the only Hemi head V-8’s offered in the mid-size vehicles. Offered in the all-new Dodge Dakota to lead it’s class in power and torque.
In fact, Dodge offers two V-8 power-train choices a standard output, and a high performance version with special heads. Both V-8 engines are supposed to deliver a three- to four-percent improvement in fuel efficiency.
The 4.7-liter High Output Magnum V-8 leads it’s class in power and torque. The High Output 4.7-liter engine will be available only on SLT and Laramie models and requires an automatic transmission. It replaces the 5.9-liter V-8 last used in 2003. It is the only high-output V-8 engine available in any compact or mid-size pickup truck on the market as of now.
The most effective difference between the 250-plus horsepower High Output Magnum V-8 from the standard output V-8 are new valve springs to provide more accurate control of valve movement, a new combustion chamber design, a more powerful designed camshaft to increase high-speed power using higher compression ratios to increase power.
The standard output 4.7-liter V-8 Magnum is rated at 230 horsepower at 4,600 rpm. Both 4.7-liter Magnum V-8 engines are available with the five-speed electronic automatic overdrive transmission.
The success of the new truck engine has been measured from its frame up and the all-new Dodge Dakota does not disappoint. Immediately, vehicles that have this engine option began selling like hotcakes. The new Hemi engine is an excellent idea by Chrysler corporation.
Using the success of the original Hemi designed engines from the 60’s, Chrysler redesigned the engine entirely to meets today’s rigorous standards for fuel mileage and power.
