After selling one of our low mileage good used engines to a customer located near Sonoma California, we got a call back form him asking if we knew of a repair shop with good credentials who can install the engine? Further more, he wanted to know if we would ship it to the repair shop too.

For those who don’t know, Infineon Raceway is located in Sonoma California. Infineon Raceway is home to drag racing and Indy car racing and all sorts of grass roots racing programs. It is a wealth of engine repair shops. It is only natural for automotive mechanics to migrate to areas that have an international race track near by. The best young mechanics want to forge a new path, being close to a racetrack keeps them close to the best competition. Veteran mechanics have well established businesses and may do some race work and street work.

A few days later our customer called back and said he found several highly qualified engine repair shops. The problem was they all seemed to be on the level and their prices were consistent. I think that is a good problem to have. Apparently he finally decided on what shop to go to.

He called back a week later and raved about this shop. He said he was never treated so well by a repair shop and even got to watch them install the replacement engine. Apparently the mechanic found out why the engine may have failed and recommended the repairs be made as the warranty would not be valid if the overheating problem were not cured. Overall he was impressed with the thoroughness of the job and the end result. The price was even a few bucks lower than quoted.

I’m sure there are many competent engine repair shops that are not near race tracks, in fact my repair shop was no where near a ractrack. We just wanted to let you know in our GotEngines.com Blog that there are a lot of good engine repair shops in the Sonoma area in California.
