Question: i have a dump truckand yesterday i was able to hear that there was a squeeking sound as if it was a metal being rubbed to another metal every time the tires rotate, what is it?
Regarding this question. I want to make it clear that the products GotEngines.com sells are engines of all types, however our belief is to share any type of money saving automotive tips and information with you.
Without have the luxury of being able to see this dump truck, I will attempt to narrow down the possibilities. Not knowing the year or model or size of the dump-truck inhibits my abilities to diagnose. As I have said before, a good diagnosis in person, by a competent technician is the best avenue to take.
That being said, there are several possibilities that can cause this noise. My first instinct would be to look underneath the truck for anything obvious like something wrapped around the drive-shaft, or something else very obvious. If you don’t see something that strikes you, next I would would tow the vehicle if you have safety concerns or drive slow and carefully to have the brakes checked at a competent repair shop.
My other thoughts concern:
1. Worn out brakes in the rear, where the metal drum is making contact with the brake shoe backing plate, meaning the shoe material is gone.
2. If it has a parking drum brake mounted to the back of the transmission, the shoes or drum may be worn out or stuck on. Note: Parking brakes need to be used, not only for safety, but so they don’t freeze up due to lack of use.
3. You may have bad universal joint (u-joint). Meaning it is worn and the grease is dryed out and it is making sqeeking sounds due to the wear and lack of lubrication. This can be pretty serious if the front u-joint breaks and the driveshaft digs into thew ground while you are driving..
4. The differential is damaged by lack of lubrication and is giving it up..
There are many more reasons I’m not thinking of, and, for that matter I have no issues with folks who want to comment or help out.
Realistically, the truck should be examined by a professional and the you can decide if you want to pay for a diagnosis and fix it yourself or let the repair shop you chose make the repairs. Either way, if it is dangerous, don’t mess around like the guy who had afront flat on his motor-home.
Be diligent as you are with your engine maintenance and make sure all systems, cooling too, are a go. One last thought would be a collapsed brake line, not allowing the brake fluid to release the brake and wearing out the shoe/s until they make metal to metal contact with the brake drum.

It is great that people are thinking about the environment and working to make the world a safer place. Not only the materials that you are using on your home are safe for the environment but dump trucks have come a long way since the earlier models. We are learning and expanding and coming up with a wide range of safer more effective vehicles for the work force. I think it is great that many auto manufacturers are turning to hybrid vehicles to protect the environment and now they are even using hybrid dump trucks.
