Make no mistake about it, the new Dodge Hemi engine is a completely redesigned engine sharing nothing in common to the original 426 cubic inch [6.9L] Hemi out of the ’60’s, except for hemispherical combustion chambers. The engine which holds legendary status, which powered Chrysler’s muscle cars of the 1960s has been re-engineered and emerged as a modern high-performance, fuel-efficient and durable power plant. GotEngines.com has the all-new 5.7L Dodge HEMI V-8 engine for sale, sitting right here waiting for your call.
The new HEMI head motor is the first Chrysler engine with dual ignition; having two spark plugs per cylinder. Dual ignition ensures consistent, complete and rapid combustion, without knock. Increasing peak power and torque, reducing exhaust emissions and increases fuel efficiency.
No shortcuts were taken by Chrysler, as dual spark plugs also smooth out the engine’s idle. The 5.7-liter HEMI also meets all federal emissions standards and delivers an 8-10 percent improvement in fuel efficiency than the 5.9L and V10 Magnum non-Hemi engines it replaced.
Chrysler has since made the 5.7 L Hemi available in all models of the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500, Dodge Durango, the 2005 Chrysler 300C, Dodge Magnum R/T, Jeep Grand Cherokee, the 2006 Dodge Charger R/T, and the 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T. For Challenger, the 6 speed version will not feature MDS [multiple discharge ignition].
A few interesting facts concerning the 2009 revisions; The new Hemi comes in several other sizes than 5.7 liters.
