If you own a repair shop one of our main goals is to help you make more money. As an engine repair shop owner you already know that using the best parts saves money in the long run. Like I was telling my long time old fashioned mechanic friend [best mechanic in town] [Shepherds Automotive, Fort Pierce, Fl, 34982] who owns a long tenured shop in town and insists on rebuilding his own engines, “plain and simple, you need to get into the modern era Hank, if you need a GMC Envoy Engine for Sale, buy it from GotEngines.com and save money.”
Shop owners are very proud and most of us are proud of our businesses and more than likely are self made business owners who work extraordinary hours and have no life other than getting customers cars ready to go. Late hours, no family life, you know the drill shop owners. It’s not easy to tell someone that you can help them run their shop better, most owners will tell you to mind your own business.
I’m not going to get into the long story on my business education. To put it simply, I owned and operated an automotive transmission rebuild and repair shop from 1981 to 2006. I sold it for good money in 2006. Well, we were always busy, I’m a naturally gifted mechanic, I can fix anything, even your Rolex watch band. You know what I could not fix without help? Learning how to make the amount of money I should have been making.
I had more business than you can imagine. We only did top notch work. But there was a missing ingredient and I could not pin it down. So I spent a year searching business companies. I was looking for someone who could turn a beautiful [new building, 8 lifts], quality transmission shop into a profitable, enjoyable shop where I had little worries and could take some time off to ride my Harley Davidson occasionally, and sell it [the business] someday for a profit. I found the right company.
I spent the next 15 years of business paying off debts and building a big bank account and treating my employees better. When I sold my shop, I was 52 years old. My retirement was set, my house is payed for and I own 3 Harley Davidson’s and a Vintage 1970 Porsche. This is not a sensationalistic story, it’s true and took hard work. However it’s nice to walk my dog when I want to, or play my guitar everyday or go for a motorcycle ride. It would not have happened if I had not committed to learning how to run a business. Period.
The subject is enormous, and it takes time and commitment to turn a poorly profiting business into a money maker. In turn, what seems to be difficult work and a new way of thinking actually becomes fun and adds a lot of quality to a shop owners life and his employees lives when their thinking patterns change and money starts rolling in the door.
Gentlemen, just because you are a top notch mechanic does not mean you can run a business. A businessman can run a business, but needs mechanics to do the work. I’m going to plug my boss here. Regardless of what replacement engine you need, we have the finest used, rebuilt and new engines in stock at everyday low prices. Stay tuned as I write more posts on how to make more money and have more free time as a shop owner. Start with a call to GotEngines.com.

BTW: I don’t know what Hank did in terms of the GMC Envoy. Another gentleman [Stevie Ray] I turned on to GotEngines.com engines has quit rebuilding engines now. He says he makes more money buying an engine from GotEngines.com and installing it, than doing the rebuild himself. He says the time used on the actual engine rebuild can be put to good use in other areas of repair now that they don’t rebuild engines anymore.
