Mine blew up at 72000 miles and we have change the oil every 3000 miles.
Possibilities: Ford has an issue with Triton motors. My friend has a Triton Ford V10 engine in his motor home and while backing up blew a plug out of the spark plug hole. This is the original Ford engine and spark plugs with only 28528 miles on it. The plug blew out, taking the coil pack with it. The whole inside of plug blew out leaving some of the threads still in the motor.
There is no way a spark plug should just blow out without a flaw in design. After looking into and checking up on Fords cure, I can only come to one conclusion. Ford is avoiding there responsibility by not issuing a recall and explaining why this is happening instead of making excuses for there products failure.
The main problem is that the heads are made out of aluminum. Aluminum is not the issue in itself, since plenty of cars have aluminum heads. The issue is that Ford did not put enough threads in the head. When the spark plug is properly installed, there are not enough threads in the head to cover all of the threads on the outside of the spark plug. Less holding power from too few threads in the head causes spark plug blow out.
It is easy to prevent or fix. At the time of manufacturing, Ford should use a device called a Heli-Coil or thread Insert. These are stainless steel threads that can be installed in the spark plug holes, making the threads stronger than the aluminum threads. The factory should do this, however if you have a problem like this, when the heads are removed, you can repair them instead of buying a set of the same old defective heads.
Ford seems to be trying to shift the blame on consumers rather than standing by there product. I think maybe Ford is avoiding the issue just to collect more revenue because most consumer will return to there Service departments for repairs.
