Great Question: Hi I am considering getting a reman. JDM motor for my mitsubishi but some people say those motors wont pass emissions in the U.S. My question is this: will this 6G72 JDM motor pass emissions in the U.S.? and if not what would i have to do to make it pass????
Simple answer: This will be a short post. By law, the engines have to be fitted with the equipment to meet US emission standards. So, in essence, who ever you buy a JDM engine from should be following the rules.
We all know some JDM engine suppliers don’t always follow the rules. That makes it hard for the average engine buyer to determine if this is a good and viable way to go. The issue is having confidence in the company you do business with. The reputable companies make sure the engines meet standards. First they inspect the emission conversion work and then the engine is put on a dynomomrter for an hour or so. What this prove is two fold.
1. that the engine performs properly both cold and hot.
2. the engine meets US emission laws.
Being a reputable person, I hope you will trust me when I say that my efforts in determining who to buy a good used low mileage JDM engine from is GotEngines.com @ 1-888-344-8044. Every engine, including JDM engines are pre-tested and have a tag with all the specifications on it. The most inviting part is that their prices are as low as the suppliers who cheat, which makes it a double good bargain.
