JDM engines are from the Japanese Domestic Market. What that means is the engines in cars in Japan and other foreign markets have to meet such strict emission standards that their engines are not able to meet emission standards in their originating countries much past 40,000 miles. Obviously 40,000 miles or less on used JDM engines is very low mileage for an engine in the USA.
The cars have to be ‘cut up‘ into separate usable major components like engines to be shipped to the US.
