The Nissan SR engine series is a 1.6 L, 1.8 L, or 2.0 L straight-4 4-stroke. It is an aluminum DOHC 4-valve design, with some versions incorporating variable valve timing. The engine was used in many small to medium Nissan vehicles, including high-performance turbocharged variants.

The Nissan SR20DE engine is one of the most successful engines made by Nissan and is used in over 15 Nissan models. It first appeared in Nissan’s Bluebird in October of 1989, and has migrated into many other models of cars since then, from sports cars, to family saloons and even people movers. The SR20DE is a 2.0 L DOHC (1998 cc) engine; it was originally produced as 150 PS. This later increased to 140 hp, which eventually became 165 HP through the use of Nissan’s VTC variable valve timing system in the S14 and S15 Nissan Silvia. There was also a LEV-version with 132 hp. It was built from 1990 through 2002. The bore and stroke are both 86mm. It uses SEFI. The redline for the low port SR20DE is 7200 rpm and for the high port SR20DE 7800 rpm. There was a special “Autech” version with 175 PS ( and 180 PS. It is used in the following vehicles:
