When the dealer called the next day, the manager told his wife that they found some serious damage in the cars engine. From what they could determine at that point, a piece of debris was was of found in the engine oil when they drained it, which they thought was a piece of a piston ring.
He went on to say that the manager told him the problem was from an object that probably came from an external source and the extended warranty company would not cover it. Since the verdict came in they have been locked in mortal combat with the warranty company and dealer.
They warranty was denied and she was told that she needed to pay for another engine. They were in no mood the be in the market for rebuilt engines. He wanted to know what could have gotten into his engine from the outside. Was he being BSed?
As far as I’m concerned, in 99.9% of the time if there is chunk of debris in the oil, it came from inside the engine. Unless you have some enemy’s that might sneak up at night and dump some bolts into a tiny engine oil fill hole in the dark, the problem came from inside the engine.
I don’t know what he has done about his situation yet. I think maybe their is a misunderstanding there, because I would think a warranty company that a dealership uses would be a good one. It shows how important a good warranty is. A good warranty should be simple and to the point, no hidden stuff to trick you.
Should he have purchased a rebuilt engine from GotEngines.com, the warranty would be clear. There would be no questions asked, for the most part.
