With the massive recalls of Toyota cars it looks like the mighty may not be so mighty right now. It seems like it took a while for Toyota to get off it’s duff to admit this is a problem and take action. Dealers are supposed to start to get the repair kits today (1-2-10). Can you imagine 2.3 million cars in eight popular models.
The safety issues are real. The opinions on whether people still trust Toyota or not, are largely based on whether or not they experienced the problem. Basically, the throttle pedal sticks in an acceleration on mode and the car engines acceleration system goes out of your control.
Long time Toyota owners vary in what they say, for instance here is a comment by a man who has never experienced the problem. “I think the hysteria over the recall is getting out of hand,” wrote Claire Horn of Tiburon. “I own a 2006 Toyota Highlander whose gas pedal has never misbehaved. In fact, I love the car.”
That is easy to say, I’ll bet he has never had his gas pedal stick, you know he would be the first guy to bad mouth Toyota if he had the problem occur, it may occur yet! The folks who have had the problem occur, realize how scary a stuck gas pedal can be. Accelerating out of control in a controlled area is very unnerving to say the least.
One of the issues is that Toyota, the mighty car line it is, is now experiencing what it is like to be ordinary. Produce cars with serious problems or recall issues. Welcome to the club. Now you can do the unthinkable, deal with consumer confidence and a slump in sales.
Looks like their may be more used Toyota’s on the road for now, at least until the car manufacturer builds back their confident customer base. For those of you who are staying loyal to your brand, I don’t blame you. If it is Toyota, your luck is better than theirs, we have plenty of high quality used engines and rebuilt engines in stock ready to go. No recalls either. GotEngines.com @ 1-877-268-0664.
