Actually a mechanic need a very soft touch when it come to valve body work and other highly sensitive parts of a tranny.
My best friend who would be in his mid 80's if he was alive, was an orthopedist and he was super mechanical automotive wise, he had some of the strongest hands I have ever seen and he did not mind a cut or scratch on his well muscled hands.
But you are correct that the two businesses are not fungible.
I differ with you in regard to a mechanic hands not being suitable for brain surgery.
What about the guys with big meatball fingers who play a guitar like crazy??
