Used engines: 2.5 L V6 MZI-Duratec

MZI is a small straight-4 automobile engine sold by Mazda as the “MZI” and by Ford Motor Company as the “Zetec-SE” and renamed Duratec. Used engines for both the Mazda and Fords are abundantly available and afford-ably priced. Understanding that in Europe the emission laws are stricter, which requires most cars in Europe to require replacement with new engines to meet the government laws. Which mean large quantities of these engines are available with 40,000 miles, give or take a few thousand.

The Duratec 25 is a 2.5 L (155 CID) V6 and was introduced in 1994. It was developed for the Ford Contour and used in many other Ford products. The Duratec 25 is an outstanding engine offering long life and good reliability.

An SVT version produced in 1998 made 195 hp. When further improvements were made in 1999 that raised power output to 200 hp and were continued in the 2000 model. The SVT engine was used in the 1998-2000 Ford Contour SVT.

The ‘Sigma engine‘ series is also a popular motor which was used by Mazda and Ford. This article should lessen the confusion surrounding Mazda engines and the Ford equivalents. For more information on replacement engines subscribe to our free GotEngines.com Blog.
