Used engines for sale orders are coming in faster than ever. There are many reasons we receive the first notice on great running-low mileage used engines. This article is actually about how I saved our 2000 GMC Safari Van with the Chevy 4.3L V-6 engine from becoming a used engine for sale. I was examining the front brakes on the van and noticed they were about 2/3 worn out. The reason I looked at them is they developed a pulsing feeling when the brakes were applied. Safety first.
Note: The subtitles do not represent the parts in the pictures: The front brakes are called Disc Brakes. The Rear Brakes are called Drum Brakes.
Picture on top left is front disc brake spindle, cleaned and ready for reassembly.
Picture in middle on top is the back of a hub and rotor assembly, the anti-loc brake sensor is the wheel with teeth.
Picture far right top is front of rotor and hub assembly with fresh synthetic grease in wheel bearing.
Picture on lower left is of the rear drum brakes on the van.

Because the brakes were repaired, I prevented our van from a brake failure and an accident, which may have put the meticulously maintained van in a salvage yard with the beautiful engine for sale.
I did a complete front brake job. Included in the job were: new front rotor and hub assemblies, front wheel bearings, ceramic front brake pads, synthetic front wheel bearing grease and front grease seals. The calipers were replaced about 30,000 miles ago and were still in perfect shape.
No magic here. I bought the best parts I could find. knowing most of the rotor and hub assemblies are made in China or Mexico, I chose the Mexican made assemblies. The pads are American made and I had to go to a genuine bearing store for American made front wheel bearings and seals. No inferior bearings on my van. Very precious loads are in it.
My point is that a large amount of used engines come from newer cars that have been wrecked and totaled out. With people texting while driving in traffic and talking on their cell phones, (I just drove RT95 from Florida to Wash.DC and Back last week, it is unreal at how many people text, read and drive at 75 mph) accident rates are up. Add safety issues like brake problems and steering issues and that leaves overwhelming amounts of really low mileage engines in the salvage yards ready to be plucked out and pre tested, crated and shipped ASAP.
