Saab Dealers Suffer, While Waiting For The Next Production…

We recently had a customer call in for one of our Saab engines. He told us he was just going to junk the car and get a new one, but he ran into something very odd…the dealership only had a handful to choose from. He said the dealership told him Saab vehicles on on back order due to a cut in production.

After further investigation we found that the production plant in Sweden has slowed down production while GM makes some changes at the facility. While this is good for us and may help sell more of our engines for sale, it’s crazy to hear something like this. While we are in one of the hardest economies ever to run a dealership and sell cars, one of the complaints the Saab dealerships have isn’t the lack of customers, but the lack of inventory. How can you sell a vehicle that you don’t have.

Apparently, the ETA on some of these vehicles are not expected until spring. I always amazing to hear different things going on in our automotive industry these days.  I try to stay on top off the automotive news and trends, but it’s not always easy. The automotive industry has become quite a chore to stay up to date on. Plus, after a long day at the office, sometimes you just want to kick back and relax.

I do know one thing…If I was a dealer working myself silly to try to get new business and survive, I would be less than happy if I was losing business because I couldn’t get my hands on inventory. I’m sure the dealerships that carry several kinds of exotic and luxury vehicles are not hurt quite so bad with this, but can you imagines trying to run a Saab dealership…wow!
